Years ago, we used to have a wall of plaques, each one bearing the name and photo of the missionary along with the name of their field-if it was safe to mention. We’re also likely to package this project with a similar one which will allow us to stream videos and photos from missionaries that we support across the world. Thus, the idea of a digital “photo board” has been in the slower cooker for some time. However, we soon reached a point where it was quite a bit of work to take the photos, crop, label, print, and post each one onto the board…only to have to remove some and reshuffle the rest as parishioners left/moved/died/etc. Currently, we have a huge bulletin board with our attendees pictures and names which was designed to help everyone get to know each other as we grew from a smaller to a medium-sized church. On the horizon, we’ve got another project in the works: a digital photo board for our members/attenders and for our missionaries.
That leads right into setting up an HD media cart powered by an Apple TV and HD projector to be used for seminars, board meetings, and large-scale classes. If we had an Apple TV as an option, I could switch the projector’s input and AirPlay my Keynote right from the stage. On Sunday’s, when I work with our middle school youth group, I’m often left without help in the sound booth. We have an HD projector that currently runs off an old Mac. I personally have toyed with the idea of using one in our youth room. It’s as simple as looking from your left to your right. Basically, from any seat in our cafe area you can see what events we did this summer and what events are on the horizon. The other displays an image stream of pictures from our summer events. Currently, we have one TV display a Flickr stream of images designed as announcement slides, each one being perfectly formatted for the Apple TV. What we like about the Apple TV is that it’s so easy to use. The answer to that question is “plenty.” Of course, I’m sure that there are other devices on the market- Hello, Chromecast!-that can do them as well. This time, however, the signal is being provided by a pair of Apple TV’s. That’s why, earlier this spring, we added two more near the ubiquitous coffee-and-donuts sitting area. It was a nice addition, but the way our foyer was designed prevent most people from benefiting from these TV’s.
We’re still working on how to jazz up our in-service-announcements, but we have made some strides in the overall methods by which we communicate with our people.Ī while back, we set up two flat-panel TV’s on our balcony that played a PowerPoint presentation fed from a PC in our sound booth. You will need to use discretion and judgment on the best compromise. One of my first posts for ChurchMag was a “gentle” complaint about how boring and bothersome church announcements can be. If you apply effects to other instruments, and then send the effects to the Aux send there is no way to limit the effects to just vocals. A bit of reverb can be beneficial to the vocalists, but keep in mind this is a global control. Note there is also a control called FX to Aux that adjusts how much of the Effects are sent to the Aux bus. If everyone likes the mono IEMs run of the Aux, you can wire up an adapter to interface with the normal Aux output. It's probably not be a good idea to use this setup permanently as I believe the IEM mix will disappear if one of several buttons is accidentally changed. The Aux Mix Level and Monitor Level will both affect the level coming from the Monitor out.
Following the block diagram is fairly complicated so you may have to experiment and do some head scratching to figure it out.but the routing is there. I believe you need to make sure all of the PFL/AFL switches are disenaged.
I believe if you put the Monitor Source button to the out position (Phones) and the select "Aux" from the (Phones Select) menu, that audio from the Aux will be routed through from Aux bus to the Monitor output.
Take a look at the block diagram on page 14 of the manual (attached) and the output strip on page 24. You just need to reconfigure the board internally by pushing a few buttons. I believe you can actually try the Aux send without changing your wiring. You do have an Aux which can be used for a mono IEM mix. But it does not give you the ability to tailor the IEM mix and FOH mix seperately which is causing problem. You current setup should give you this if you are building a stereo FOH mix. You can use the Effects Send to drive a speaker, but then you don't have descrete control for the built in Effects, and also the level will track with fader adjustement made for FOH (front of house) sound, which is undesirable. The Aux is setup pre fader and the Effects Send is setup post fader, and I don't believe this can be changed. Click to expand. You have fairly limited options with this mixer.
